This week's challenge didn't exactly excite me. I saw myself being all boring and taking yet another picture of my very fat (and don't get me wrong, very adorable) cats. My creative juices just weren't flowing on this one right off the get go. Actually, they never started flowing. I completely lucked into pictures of "an animal."
You see, we took the boys out to my in-laws to jump in big piles of leaves (they have trees and therefore leaves, and we do not). While we were there, we found out that the boys' great-grandparents - who just happen to live next door - had just gotten their new puppy. After the leaf fun ended (a.k.a. my allergies took over making it impossible to have anymore fun), we walked the boys next door to see her, this new tiny pup, and I just happened to still be carrying my camera. And wah-la! Captures of an animal happened!
Of course today I was inspired to take tons of pictures of the enourmous pack of geese resting by a little pond. I could just see the gorgeous pictures laid out here for You Caputre, but alas, I didn't have my camera and was already late to work. Go figure!
Happy capturing, everyone! For more animals visit Beth at I Should Be Folding Laundry!

the one where I dress my cat up
A while back I realized that our cat Lucius and Gavin were about the same size. I wondered if Gavin's clothes would fit Lucius. Then I decided to find out...he was not amused...
I think the ultimate humiliation was the fact that I purposely chose a shirt with a picture of a dog to dress Lucius in...he really, really hates dogs.
After Justin put him down he spent quite awhile walking around backwards trying to get the shirt off. It didn't work...
Our other two cats chased him around the house sniffing him and trying to figure out what was wrong with him...
I did finally remove the humiliating shirt though he didn't thank me for it. Instead he just yowled at me and glared a lot. Go figure.
I did make sure to get one last picture though...
Such a happy kitty don't you think?

Let's Be Friends
This is Lucius:
Seven years ago we got him from one of my co-workers at Wal-Mart. He was only four months old at the time, but quickly let us know of his two loves in life: eating and sleeping. He's particularly fond of sleeping in strange places.
Of course in the past four years I have ruined his life not once, but twice. Seems Lucius does not like babies...or children. He keeps his distance from the boys at all times...almost. Remember his fondness for sleeping in strange places? Well, he's particularly fond of sleeping in car seats and will put up with a lot - even the boys - if it means he gets to continue sleeping in the car seat.
Observe:
Lucius - curled up sleeping in the car seat complete unaware of the sneak attack being launched by Logan from behind...
Then there is contact. Lucius glares, but holds his ground. He's not giving up the coveted car seat!
Finally there is aquiesence as Lucius bares his belly to Logan. Anything to continue sleeping in the car seat! Logan is triumphant. He believes he has made a friend! He would be wrong, but oh well, he is happy for now.
Yesterday I watched this exact same scene play out...this time with Gavin launching the sneak attack.
Observe:
Once again we find Lucius curled up in an empty car seat. Gavin approaches from the front (I'm not sure this is a sign of boldness or a lack of sneaky-ness (is that a word?)). Lucius quickly realizes an attack is coming, but refuses to give up his spot.
There is much glaring as Gavin dares to pet him...maybe it is because Gavin is using my lens cap to pet him???
Then there is direct hand-to-fur contact. Lucius glares, hisses, and gives up. Gavin is victorious!
See him delight in his victory?
Lucius gives him a sniff...and rolls himself back into a ball.
Gavin, like Logan before him, believes he has made a friend. Gavin, like Logan before him, would be wrong. See, even after four years, Lucius isn't a fan of babies or children...but who knows? Maybe after a few more years my boys will wear him down and we'll all be friends. Until then though...at least I'll be able to take some funny pictures!

Don't smile...I dare you to try!
Because how can you NOT smile when you see this?
And this?
And this?
And this?
I can't do it. Kitties make me smile every single time!
Last week we got to babysit these three for some friends while they went on vacation. Now our friends are home, and....I miss kittens! WAAAAA!!!

The thing about cats
The thing about cats is that you never know where you are going to find them...
As far as finding cats in strange places today was no exception. She insisted on slipping into the book bag while I was trying to pack it full of books!
And yes, we have THREE cats! By the way, three is too many. I won't ever have three at a time again. But, we are stuck with these three until the end because by now I'm way to attached! Stupid cats making me like them....
My clean laundry...for this reason alone laundry needs to be folded an put away as quickly as possible.
In the Christmas decorations...thank goodness they only try to eat the tree and not climb it...
Even the car seat is fair game for a nap.
He is INSIDE of blanket on the floor by the foot of our bed...I nearly stepped on the turd walking by!
She thinks she rules to roost...can you tell?
They think they are hiding...
He always wants outside...not so much after he discovered what all that white stuff was...
He is crazy scared of both boys, but it doesn't stop him from turning their playthings into nap spots.
Under the bed is always a favorite...and looking at this picture reminds me why we had to have a new mattress a couple years ago!
